I feel like since imu takes damage from harald being killed he'd take damage and retreat once zoro and sanji finishes their fights. It's not impossible that this is the final fight between imu and luffy. The story may progress from here to put someone else as the final hurdle. Imu may figure in that prominently, but I see it as entirely possible that someone else will give him in a later arc instead of luffy. 

 

I highly doubt it. Blackbeard was set up earlier but I think he's always been the laughtale villain, and the overall villain is imu. The way oda talks about the final war leads me to think it's going to go more or less how the elbaph mural depicts it. The world government + marines combo is much more of a series villain than blackbeard ever could be. I really feel strange with this fight. Establishing it like this, while not being final? Really strange and unexpected.
