Call of Duty Warzone Halloween Event : Haunting of Verdansk

Warzone's Haunting of Verdansk event is mixing things up with a new nighttime map, zombies, and killer costumes from some famous horror movies. Meanwhile, multiplayer is redecorating several of its modes. Look for scarecrows instead of flags in Domination, skulls instead of dog tags in Kill Confirmed, and more. The Haunting of Verdansk Halloween event is now live and does not require a restart, or any additional download in Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Gamers can enjoy the following new modes across both MW and Warzone today:

MODERN WARFARE

    Gunfright
    Haunted House Party
    Onslaughter

WARZONE

    Blood Money Trios
    Zombie Royale (Night Map)
BR Trick or Trios (Night Map)

The Haunting of Verdansk Halloween event has been officially unveiled for the next Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Warzone update, across PS4, Xbox One and PC. Warzone gamers can look forward to the launch of Night Time Battle Royale and Zombie Royale Modes, alongside a new trick-or-treat event that rewards with new items to unlock.

Here's the latest news from Activision on the Warzone Halloween event arriving on October 20, 2020:
NIGHT TIME: "Although the full moon’s glow prevents total darkness, operators might want to still pack some Thermal optics in their Loadout Drops to help spot enemies lurking about in low-light areas or use Cold-Blooded to counter these high-tech tools.

TRICK-OR-TREAT EVENT: "No matter the operation, visiting Verdansk at night will leave operators open to a few frights. Some say that a ventriloquist doll frequently appears on television sets tuned to defunct channels, and the poltergeist of a chainsaw-wielding killer can be seen and heard across the Krovnik Farmland. Others claim that the defunct tracks near the Train Station are still in use by a ghost train, a vessel filled with souls of those who lost their lives fighting in the Gulag…

ZOMBIE ROYALE: "Operators can fight against and alongside powerful zombified creatures as part of Zombie Royale, a limited-time mode where death is far from permanent.

"Instead of being sent to the Gulag, dead Operators will come back to life as a zombie. Although zombies cannot use weapons, they have supernatural abilities: increased speed, improved jumps, deadlier melee attacks, and thermal vision."

ORIGINAL: The next Call of Duty Modern Warfare update could be a big one for COD Warzone fans across PS4, Xbox One and PC. While Activision hasn’t said much about its plans for the Haunting of Verdansk, it appears that we will be finding out more in the coming days.

Dataminers have shared a few snippets ahead of time, including new cosmetic bundles and a special mode for gamers to experience. According to the latest news shared with the COD Community, the Haunting of Verdansk will make some significant changes to the map.

This will include bringing a Warzone Night Mode option to the Battle Royale experience, and may also mean zombies coming to the game. While zombies haven’t been officially shown by developers Infinity Ward, a few shots of a Night Mode were featured in the Season 6 trailer.

While Activision has remained coy on its plans, they have started to drop Easter eggs onto the map, including creepy laughs and other noises being heard in certain areas.

And with the new Halloween event’s scheduled release date getting closer, there’s a good chance of the big update news being revealed very soon.

Activision usually shares early notes via a blog post the day before a patch, meaning we could get some news in the next 24-hours. Gamers are expecting the Haunting of Verdansk Call of Duty Modern Warfare to begin on Tuesday, October 20. The timing will be a little different depending on what timzone you live in, meaning some gamers will get access earlier in their day. For COD fans in the UK, the next Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is expected to go live at around 6pm BST, although nothing official has been shared yet. For gamers in the United States, that would mean the Haunting in Warzone launching at 10am PDT.

By Modern Warfare standards this could be a large update, especially when you consider what new stuff could be added. Playlist changes are expected, with more cosmetic bundles heading to the Call of Duty Store, and Activision confirming several limited-time modes being released. Recent rumours suggest a Night Mode will be launching, as well as something connected to the undead appearing in Verdansk. This is expected to be available sometime between October 20 and November 3, when the Haunting event is scheduled to end. According to the latest rumours, the new mode will make it possible to comeback as a zombie and have the chance to regain your life if you down another player. It will also be possible for players to buyback team mates in the normal fashion, although this all remains a rumour at this point. Here are a few other references made to Halloween content coming to Warzone during Season 6: “With Halloween approaching, the Store is set to stock up on a wide variety of blueprint and Operator bundles.

“Leading off the Season, expect the ‘Undead Forces’ Store bundle to bring a faithful, undead companion into the fray with a new Finishing Move, and a new Operator Bundle for Velikan that gives him an even more dark and foreboding set of armor. “Later in the Season, prepare for more Tracer Packs, an Operator pack that continues the gold-plated trend of flashy skins, and even a couple of Halloween surprises as the nights grow longer and the more twisted games begin.” “Grizzly End” Cargo Truck Skin: Strike terror and fear into your enemies with this Halloween inspired skin, exclusive to those who reach Tier 100 in the Battle Pass. “Vehicle Skins: Get a fresh, Halloween-inspired exterior for four different Warzone vehicles – the “Mutated” ATV, “Flight of Torment” Helicopter, “From the Deep” SUV and “Stained” Tac Rover skins – as part of the Season Six Battle Pass.”

COD Mobile Celebrates 1st Anniversary With A Biggest Update Ever

Call of Duty: Mobile released one year ago this day, October 15, and Activision is celebrating by updating the game with a lot of new content and activities. The Anniversary update is out now on Android and iOS, and Activision says it represents the "biggest injection of content ever" in the game's life. Included with the update is a brand-new battle royale map called Alcatraz. If the name sounds familiar, it's because it's inspired by the Alcatraz location in Black Ops 4's Blackout mode.

The Anniversary update also introduces a new social space called "The Club." As its name suggests, this is a hangout area where players can take part in various mini-games like darts or various arcade games. The Anniversary update also introduces a new battle pass with 50 tiers to progress through to earn various cosmetics and other extras. Additionally, there is a new map, King, which can be played in the Gunfight and Duel modes. And just in time for Halloween, the update adds the map Halloween Standoff, which is a nighttime version of the Standoff map featuring jack-o-lanterns and other spookiness. What's more, the Anniversary update adds the Cranked mode that debuted in Call of Duty: Ghosts years ago. The twist with the mode is that, when a player is eliminated, a 30-second timer kicks off, and during this period you move faster and earn double points for kills. For lots more on the Anniversary update, check out the image above to see what's in the Battle Pass, while you can also have a look at Activision's blog post for a detailed rundown. In other Call of Duty news, the cross-play beta for Black Ops Cold War kicks off very soon--here's everything you need to know.

Microsoft announces new Windows 10 Design

Microsoft is introducing a new Windows 10 Start menu design that will de-emphasize its Live Tiles. The software giant first hinted at the refreshed design earlier this year, and it’s arriving for Windows 10 testers today. “We are freshening up the Start menu with a more streamlined design that removes the solid color backplates behind the logos in the apps list and applies a uniform, partially transparent background to the tiles,” explains Microsoft in a blog post.

Essentially, the reduction in the color of the blocky tiled interface on the Start menu will simplify it slightly and make it easier to scan for the apps you use on a daily basis. It’s a subtle change, but it certainly makes the Start menu look a little less chaotic and avoids many tiles sharing a similar blue color. Alongside an updated Start menu, the latest Windows 10 build includes some big changes to Alt-Tab. “Beginning with today’s build, all tabs open in Microsoft Edge will start appearing in Alt-Tab, not just the active one in each browser window,” explains Microsoft. This seems like a change that might be a little confusing for veteran Windows users, but Microsoft is thankfully allowing you to switch back to the classic Alt-Tab experience.

Microsoft experimented with Alt-Tab changes in Windows 10 builds in the past, back when the company was planning to add tabs to every app. There will likely be a lot of feedback around any Alt-Tab changes here, especially if Microsoft plans to turn this on by default when its next major Windows 10 update ships later this year. Microsoft is also making some smaller changes with this new Windows 10 build. The default taskbar appearance will also now be more personalized with the Xbox app pinned for Xbox Live users or Your Phone pinned for Android users. This will be limited to new account creation on a PC or first login, so existing taskbar layouts will remain unchanged. Notifications now include an X in the top right corner to allow you to quickly dismiss them, and Microsoft is also improving its Settings app in Windows 10. Links that would typically push you toward the system part of the legacy Control Panel system page will now direct you to the About page in Settings. This will now house the more advanced controls typically found in that system section of the Control Panel, and Microsoft is promising “there will be more improvements coming that will further bring Settings closer to Control Panel.”

The King’s Man Trailer and Updates

In The King's Man, Ralph Fiennes and Harris Dickinson play Duke of Oxford and his protege Conrad, respectively, as they try to stop the "collection of history's worst tyrants and criminal masterminds" in achieving their goal to wipe out millions of people. The trailer of The King’s Man, the prequel to the Kingsman series, is out. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, The King’s Man digs into the origin of the independent intelligence agency Kingsman.

Ralph Fiennes and Harris Dickinson play Duke of Oxford and his protege Conrad, respectively, as they try to stop the “collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds” in achieving their goal to wipe out millions of people.

The King’s Man looks great. The action, featuring World War II’s weaponry, looks fun, fluid and well-choreographed, and like other films in the franchise, The King’s Man appears to be making good use of humour. The cast is packed with renowned performers like Rhys Ifans, Gemma Arterton, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance. At this point, only Colin Firth’s absence can hurt the movie. The official synopsis of The King’s Man reads, “As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them. Discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in The King’s Man.”
