The way brook talks to leuven makes it seem like he knew him long before he became king. Perhaps the kingdom was established only relatively recently or leuven took over from someone else. He doesn't look like he was born into royalty. We’ve been waiting for this flashback since last year and i’m glad it’s finally here. The only other option would be to have the final battle then do the flashback afterwards which would feel weird. Don’t expect this one to be as long as gods valley.

Apologies for getting involved in brooks fight but only stepped in due to circumstances and tells brook to decide her fate and the crew will follow his decision. Are brook and king leuven related? They have the same eyes and similar eyebrows but leuven's are thicker. (oh definitely brothers. The translation has brook saying 'wow bro i mean your majesty). Brook mentioned gunko murdered her father, we know she left for mariejois and that imu possesses her now. Guessing this flashback will reveal imu possessed her to kill her father and brook didnt know about the possession, thats probably why oda purposely has brook points out her different personalities before the flashback.

One thing i’ve always praised op and oda for is the way he can sort of balloon out so much of the story to its absolute limits but knows he has to put some of of constraint on it to make sure it can tie together well enough to the main conflicts of his story. Since wano (which i absolutely love btw and consider it one of the best arcs in the story) it seems to becoming increasingly apparent that what he used to do so masterfully is starting to sort of, at least to me, become irritating. I understand his need and want to introduce more people and things into his world to make it feel more lived in and have a connection to the deep history he’s made, and to his credit he is always trying to loop everything back around to the present of the story and make it work, but i’m sort of getting kinda tired of it. The story keeps ramping up to “ending” and it’s obvious because of the way which things keep progressing in the story but my god. Elbaph has become one of the most dense arcs that’s backloading so much info becuase it’s obvious he didn’t really have a better idea of where to put it. And i like elbaph! But damn, it’s getting cluttered. I wouldn’t have expected another flashback after how long the rocks/god valley/loki flash back was. And i loooove brook and love that he can be a bit front of center for once but man what a time to do it. Again i understand completely why he’s structuring it the way he is, but it does feel like more of a “well might as well just stuff this here” than the masterful way he’s done it in the past.
