Kaido's Son Revealed

In the latest chapter Kaido mentioned that he has a son. Kaido’s son is most likely a new character, if I had to guess, and he has probably been written as a reflection of Momosuke.

Wano arc is built trying to create a clear symmetry between the two sides of the conflict: each side has a traitor, an alliance and, with this last chapter, an heir. Maybe this can be set as a surprisingly emotional weakness of Kaido, who defeated Oden by abusing of his paternal instincts. Maybe his downfall will come the same way?

Or maybe we will see how heartless Kaido truly is when he sacrifices his own son for a chance of victory? Another option is that he will serve to contrast to Momosuke. Momonosuke’s arc is about trying to be worthy of his father shoes, although he is not born with the same superhuman strength as Oden’s. Maybe Kaido’s son is pretty strong, but, for any reason, he isn’t worthy of inheriting his leadership role.

We should remember that one of the main themes of this arc is loyalty: Kaido getting it by overpowering his followers and Luffy getting by inspiring his followers, Eustass Kid being betrayed by his alliance, Law’s crew being accused of betraying his allies and the two double agents shared by Orochi and the Scabbards. I can see Kaido’s son working to develop this theme: When someone should inherit someone loyalty? Is when he is as strong as his father? Is simply by sharing his father blood? Or maybe is there something else to it?

Denjiro is the mysterious person who freed Law

In chapter 954, we see that Law has somehow escaped from his cell and has incapacitated Hawkins. After questioning him for a short while, Law leaves the prison cell but as he does so, you can see a shadowy figure behind Law. Law says “If letting me walk is part of your plot, then consider me a willing participant.” I’m more and more convinced that Denjiro/Kyoshiro is the one who freed Trafalgar Law.

I know people think it’s X-Drake, but X Drake’s mission in Wano whatever it is for the Marines far exceeds the Straw Hat Alliance. Him helping Law in front of Hawkins seems unlikely and too obvious. He joined Kaido for a very specific reason, long ago. I don’t think he’d jeopardise it for the Straw Hat Alliance. Orochi has some sort of informant that he trusts. Someone on the inside. Maybe he has Intel from Kyoshiro who is getting leaks from Shinobu if she knows his identity? Maybe Hiyori had enough info to fill Kyoshiro in and produce the report to Orochi as part of his plan? Maybe the person that set Law free was not X Drake, but it was Kyoshiro. Law and Kyoshiro came up with the ‘let Orochi think he has won’ plan. Kyoshiro could have told Law certain info without telling him he is a Scabbard.

Denjiro’s True Identity Finally Revealed!

Denjiro was a trickster and a swindler, taking pride in his abilities to manipulate people and get what he wants. In the past, he had extended knowledge regarding the politics of the Flower Capital Yakuza. He was a fan of Kozuki Oden even before becoming his retainer, and held him in high regard for his actions. After becoming Oden's retainer, he and the rest of the Scabbards worked to aid him in any way, until they were caught by Shimotsuki Yasuie during their attempt to steal his money. After being lectured by Yasuie, Denjiro and the rest of the Scabbards became noble and educated samurai. Denjiro, being the more knowledgeable one, was the one who would take some of the teaching onto himself.

In the latest chapter Denjiro is revealed to be both “Kyoshiro” and “Ushimitsu Kozo”, the mysterious thief in Wano Country who steals money from the rich and gives it to the poor. This is just incredible. Although Denjiro as Kyoshiro was a popular option, Oda was able to come up with a story of the transformation that no one even remotely thought about: he changed his face out of anger. How amazing is that? You can clearly see the hate and wrath in his eyes after he leaves the shrine. His rage over the years must be overwhelming because of the role he had to play. He truly is a tragic character. Lost his idol, his friends and had to serve a coward. This transformation ties into a part of Japanese folklore. In Japanese folklore if a person is consumed by great anger, rage or grief his soul will manifest into a Ikiryō a type of demon which will haunt and seek revenge. So Denjiro became so enraged that his soul metaphorically manifested to seek out punishment, and Kyoshiro is the manifestation. Denjiro still exists but he has been consumed by the rage in his soul. Lastly, I like the parallel between Orochi’s story and Denjiro. Orochi got his family killed and dishonored. He then lied about his identity and got around the Kozuki. He played the good guy whild doing evil stuff in the dark. At the end, he was handed the power. Denjiro got his “family” killed and dishonored. Out of anger, he changed his name and lied his way into the castle. He played the bad guy while doing good in the dark. As of now, Orochi entrusted the castle to him while he went to Kaido’s party. Denjiro could be the one to kill Orochi.

The Most Tragic And Saddest Death in One Piece

In the last chapter Kozuki Oden explains the meaning of opening Wano Country’s borders. Oden tells the Scabbards to somehow open Wano’s borders so that a certain someone can come and liberate the world. It seems like he is talking about Joy Boy. Oden knows that Orochi will not let him live so he uses his full might and pushes all the Scabbards out of there so that they can escape and open Wano’s borders someday. In the meantime we find out that Kaido didn’t cheat Oden in their fight and was extremely angered by the interference of Kurozumi Higurashi. Kaido in fact reveals that he killed Higurashi prior to Oden’s execution.

And we understand how much Kaido respects Oden. Kaido realized that Oden’s body was done even though he managed such an incredible feat and going out like this was probably one of the most honorable and dignified ways he could have died given the circumstances. He knew Oden couldn’t have given him another fight like they’d had 3 days prior. Kaido even giving Oden a chance to survive the boiling in the first place was an understanding between 2 warriors. Orochi would have never allowed such a thing. Oden died a legendary death, just like Whitebeard, and you can see just how hard this hit the Scabbards in particular. To them, he was more than just a leader, he was like a father figure who protected them to the bitter end, much like Whitebeard. Both Oden and Whitebeard died on their feet protecting their family betrayed by those they welcomed. Furthermore, Toki sending her son and some of his retainers twenty years into the future is revealed to be instructed by Oden. A giant war will start in 20 years and someone will come and defeat Kaido then. So Oden’s prophecy has come true and Luffy is here to defeat Kaido. We thought Luffy will have help defeating Kaido but it seems like Luffy will 1 vs 1 Kaido alone and defeat him.

Lady Toki's Purpose

She came from 800 years ago into the past and traveled in time to a certain island, and right from the start, her main objective was to go to wano. But what is her link to wano? Why wano specifically? Right in her introduction, she wears an outfit that's full of the "Crescent moon" symbols.

Coincidentally, the kozuki clan has also been associated with a similar "Crescent moon" symbol throughout the story, and this might give a subtle hint that she already had a link not just with wano but also the kozuki clan before she even went to wano in the first place possibly 800 years ago as well. And not only is she linked to the void century and wano, but she is also linked to roger, and given that she came with oden to roger's crew later on she's definitely one of the people who knew the true history of the world, like roger, rayleigh and oden.

Perhaps she may have even compared what she had witnessed in the past, to what was also written.

What could lady toki's purpose in the story be, 800 years into the future?
What could be her motive to go to wano 800 years later? Perhaps she was asked to, maybe it was her home? Why 800 years into the future?

Another thing to note is, oden decided to open wano's borders before he returned to wano; he met lady toki before joining roger, and knew the true history during his voyage. Could lady toki somehow have partly influenced oden's decision to open wano's borders?
