Guilty Gear Strive Gets Final 2021 Release Date For All Gaming Platform

Guilty Gear Strive, the latest entry in Arc System Works' acclaimed fighting franchise, aims to take things a step further with improved animations and new fighting mechanics. It's coming to PS4, PS5, and PC, and you'll be able to get your hands on it in 2021.

Releasing for all three platforms on April 9, 2021 (or three days earlier for the Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition) Guilty Gear Strive looks to be a good starting point for newcomers without sacrificing the series' famous depth. Among Arc System Works fighters, it's arguably the most "hardcore," with Dragon Ball FighterZ appealing to less-experienced players due to its auto-combo system and streamlined mechanics--not that there isn't plenty of depth in that game, too. Guilty Gear Strive doesn't ditch the 2D art of its predecessors, but it does give the art a ton of detail that make it look like you're watching a climactic anime battle. There are 3D elements to the characters, as well, letting them portray more emotion and adding a new sense of weight to the fights. One of the characters Arc System Works recently showed off was Giovanna, who makes use of a green spirit wolf for some of her attacks. She's one of 15 characters who will be on the roster from the beginning. The Deluxe Edition of Guilty Gear Strive releases on April 6, 2021, and includes the game along with the season pass, while the Ultimate Edition also includes a digital soundtrack, digital artwork, and special colors. PS4 hit Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC on August 7th

We already knew that Horizon Zero Dawn, long one of the PlayStation 4’s prized exclusives, would be making its way to PC. And now we know precisely when that will happen: the game will be released on August 7th. It’ll be sold through both Steam and the Epic Games Store for $49.99. Guerilla Games, the Sony-owned developer behind the hit title and its upcoming PlayStation 5 sequel, released a new trailer today for the complete edition of Horizon Zero Dawn.

The video lays out a number of features and improvements coming to the PC version, including ultrawide display support, an unlocked framerate, dynamic foliage, deep graphics customization settings, improved reflections, and expanded controller options. It all looks fantastic in this 90-second trailer, which also shows an in-game benchmark tool.
Back in March, Hermen Hulst the head of PlayStation Worldwide Studios said of Horizon’s PC port that “I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.” Horizon Zero Dawn is the first PS4 exclusive that will make the move to a second platform. During Sony’s PS5 event last month, Guerrilla announced a stunning-looking PS5 sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn called Horizon Forbidden West. There’s currently no release window for the anticipated follow-up, however.

PlayStation Plus: June 2020 Free PS4 Games Available

Breaking from longstanding tradition, the next round of PlayStation Plus freebies began before the new month even arrived. PS4 users can currently claim June's free games, Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars Battlefront II. This is one of the strongest free games lineups we've seen this year.

Developed by Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty: WWII released in 2017 and brought the series back to its original World War II-era setting for the first time since World at War in 2008. Call of Duty: WWII is particularly known for having a strong single-player campaign, which clocks in around six hours. The online servers are still live, and while they aren't extremely active, you can expect the player count to tick up since far more people will have access to it on PS4. In addition to the campaign and traditional multiplayer playlists, WWII also has a fun narrative-focused War mode with unique maps and lengthy attack/defend objectives. The strong package earned the first-person shooter a 9/10 in our Call of Duty: WWII review: "Ultimately, if every shooter set in the European Theater of World War II is measured by how it depicts its D-Day landing--assuming it has such a mission--Call of Duty: WWII emphatically succeeds in its impactful designs and delivery. The sensation of riding the troop carrier as it approached the beach filled me with depression more than dread, knowing I'd survive eventually while many of my surrounding brothers in arms wouldn't. While not equally emotional, this battle's reinterpretation in War mode proves to be a highlight in a superb suite of competitive modes," we wrote. Meanwhile, Star Wars Battlefront II has evolved to become a fairly solid multiplayer experience since launching back in 2017. It earned a 6/10 in GameSpot's Star Wars Battlefront II review. EA has offered consistent support since release, listening to fan feedback along the way. The game recently received its last major update, so if you're diving in for the first time, you'll experience Battlefront II in its final form. Battlefront II has a fun, if a tad underwhelming, campaign and a suite of multiplayer modes to enjoy online with friends.
