It appears that Conor McGregor's highly anticipated return to the octagon will be delayed once again. In an exciting announcement on X, McGregor revealed that he has accepted a boxing exhibition match against YouTube star-turned-boxer Logan Paul, set to take place in India.
McGregor addressed rumors surrounding a potential bout with Ilia Topuria, stating, “The rumors of a bout with Topuria are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
As a former two-weight UFC champion, McGregor has not fought since suffering a leg injury during his TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021. He was originally scheduled to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 earlier this June, but he canceled just two weeks prior due to an injured foot. McGregor's only professional boxing match took place in 2017 against Floyd Mayweather Jr., which ended in a TKO defeat in the 10th round. That fight was dubbed “The Money Fight” and was considered “The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History.”
Logan Paul, on the other hand, has participated in four exhibition boxing matches, including a draw with Floyd Mayweather, a draw and a defeat against KSI, and a victory over MMA fighter Dillon Danis. Recently, Paul has been focusing on his WWE career, where he won the U.S. Championship in November 2023.
As of now, a date for the McGregor vs. Paul fight has not been announced.
